On September 14, 2021 Massachusetts released the first version of the revised Child Support Guidelines Worksheet. This is big news for families that are paying or receiving child support in Massachusetts because beginning October 4, 2021 the new 2021 Child Support Guidelines go into effect in Massachusetts, and from that point on, the courts will use the updated calculation to determine the amount of child support to be paid by one parent to the other.
As discussed in our prior blog post about the recently-announced 2021 updates to the Child Support Guidelines, there are some significant changes in the calculation with the most prominent changes related to families with more than one child and families with combined income higher than $250,000. Without the new Child Support Guidelines Worksheet being available, it was a manual and complex calculation that was easy to miscalculate.
